Durabuild Elastomeric Bituminous Coating is a blend of selected bitumen emulsified with water and modified with synthetic rubber to provide an easyto-apply waterproof protective coating. It dries to a black flexible waterproof film which is resistant to the passage of water.

Uses:

• As a vapour barrier coating.
• As a general waterproof coating for retaining walls, external sides of water tanks, podium slabs, etc.
• As a waterproof membrane for surface dressing

Application Method:

1 SURFACE PREPARATION

Surfaces should be sound, clean and free from oil or grease. Any surface depressions or cracks shall be repaired using D007 ACRYLIC POLYMER modified mortar. D010 ELASTOMERIC BITUMINOUS COATING may be applied by brush. Moisten the surfaces with water.

2 MIXING & APPLICATION

Before application of . D010 ELASTOMERIC BITUMINOUS COATING, the surfaces should be primed with a coat of . D010 ELASTOMERIC BITUMINOUS COATING diluted with an equal quantity (1:1) of cool clean water and allowed to dry.

Apply two coats of . D010 ELASTOMERIC BITUMINOUS COATING @ 0.500 Kg/m² per coat. The first coat must be dry before the application of the second coat. For larger areas subjected to stresses, polyester felt may be used as reinforcement sandwiched between the two coats. In such cases, the polyester felt shall be placed over the first coat applied @ 1.0 Kg/m² when the coating is still wet. Mild pressure shall be applied to remove any air entrapment. The second coat shall be applied @ 1.0 Kg/m² when the first coat is dry.

3 PROTECTION

The coating shall be protected from immediate rain. When the second coat is dry, the surface may be covered with 10-15 mm thick cement/sand (1:4) plaster as protection.

Cleaning: Tools may be cleaned with water when the material is wet. If it is dry, the same may be removed mechanically.

Precautions and Limitations:

• All corners, gaps, joints, protrusions & outlets shall be coated with two extra coats.
• Do not apply during heavy sunshine, rains; or strong winds.
• The product shall be protected from any damages by suitable means.

 1.0-1.2 kg/m² in 2 coats (without fibre mesh)

2.0-2.2 kg/m² in 2 coats (with fibre mesh)

Precautions: 

• Apply on a clean sound surface.
• Should be stirred well before use.
• Moisten porous surfaces before applying.

Shelf Life:

Shelf life is 12 months from the date of manufacturing in unopened condition. Store in a cool & dry place.

Health & Safety:

• Skin Contact: Wash skin with soap & water. Remove contaminated clothes.
• On eye contact: Immediately splash eyes with plenty of water. Consult Physician if irritation persists.
• Ingestion: Do not induce vomiting. Never give anything by mouth to an unconscious person. Call a Physician.
